Book name: Marked
Author: P.C. and Kristin Cast
My rating: 5/5
Back script: So the bad news was that I'd have to move into the House of Night, a private boarding school, known by all my friends as the vampyre finishing school, where I would spend the next four years going through bizarre and unnameable changes, as well as a total and permanent life shake-up. And that's only if the whole process didn't kill me. But the good news was that I wouldn't have to take the geometry test tomorrow.
When sixteen-year-old Zoey is marked by the Tracker, she knows her old life is over. Now she has to leave her friends and family to join the House of Night school, where there's only one subject Zoey needs to study: Vampyre 101. Of course, there's always a catch, and this one's nice and simple: if you fail, you die...
My opinion: When I saw the Marked series was another series based on creatures of the night that we called vampires (which I thought they simply misspelled) I was sure it would be just another cliche vampire... sorry vampyre book like the rest. I was not even planning on giving it a chance, a few weeks ago a friend insisted I read it knowing that I love all things vampire related but I simply refused, somehow though I ended up taking the book home with me. I put the book on my desk and left it there figuring I would pretend to have read it and give it back. When I took it back to her she insisted she knew I hadn't read it and that I should really give it a try so once again Marked went home with me. The power of my house cut of completely and I decided I would read something and Marked was the only book on my mini bookshelf I had yet to read so I picked it up and started reading.
The first chapter annoyed me automatically and I just thought 'Oh great, it's no different' oh how wrong I was, luckily I am not a person to start something and not finish it so I continued on in the book, by chapter 3 I was hooked, I laughed a lot during the book as the main character Zoey and her 4 new found friends always had a good joke or two up their sleeves, I loved the fact that they put a gay guy in the book as if to say 'we don't care if your homophobic, this is our book and we can put whatever character we want in here, some parts were a bit cliche but you have to love those cliche parts to enjoy the whole book.
I can honestly say upon finishing the book I was very happy and look forward to either getting the next one or borrowing it, I highly suggest reading it as this brought new light to the saying "Don't judge a book by it's cover".
